There is no road to the base: you take a forest jeep from Mollem along the old track, and the last stretch is walked over wet rock. The pool at the bottom is shallow and rocky. On the way, the Tambdi Surla temple — a twelfth-century Kadamba shrine — is the oldest surviving in Goa.
