Edakkal is one of the very few places in India with Neolithic petroglyphs — carved figures and script on the walls of a natural cleft in Ambukuthi hill, dated to around 6,000 BCE. Reaching it means a climb. In the afternoon, Soochipara falls drops in three tiers through forest near Vellarimala, with a short walk in. Both are genuinely good; neither is accessible to anyone unwilling to walk.
