The Aranmula Vallamkali, a snake-boat race held on the Pamba in September, is one of the great spectacles of Kerala. And Aranmula kannadi — a mirror made from a secret alloy of copper and tin that reflects from the front surface rather than the back — is made only here, by a few families, and is a protected geographical indication.
