- Footwear with grip — the cave floors at Kutumsar and the Kanger Valley paths are wet
- Modest clothing for the tribal villages and the temples
- Cash — the haats and the dhokra workshops outside Jagdalpur do not take cards

A single day, returning the same evening.,Chitrakote is at its widest in the monsoon, roughly July to September, when the water is brown and the volume enormous; it is clearest from November to February.,The Kutumsar caves are closed to visitors for part of the year for the bats, and carry a camera fee.
